In other news, I am worryingly affectionate of rap music. I haven't ACTUALLY finished this yet, but I literally have ten pages. The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie (06/2010) I could write this for a living, I swear. Still doesn't speak up for herself when she's made fun of though. I've figured out the formula by now: Asian-American teen angsts about being Asian, random parental angst, random racism from jock/somewhat popular but MEAN boy in school and subsequent passivity, random angsting about not being perfect/blonde a la that one chick in her English class, random crush on cute/sensitive white boy who seems sympathetic but will inevitably end up with blonde chick, and a final epiphany moment where Asian-American teen realizes she will be more successful than any of these people ever will be by merit of, you know, her BRAIN. I keep reading shitty YA novels by Asian-American authors.
The Witch of Portobello was alright, but wordy and kind of dragged on. UNFORTUNATELY I WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED. I borrowed this book because I always see Coelho's The Alchemist just hanging around, and this was also recommended. And I'm not going to prom anyway, so who cares if I get demerits! ^_^ Not going to prom was the best idea I've ever had. I also have no school on Friday because it's Senior Cut Day yaaaaay. I'm not too positive what that is but I don't have school so who cares. I have no school tomorrow (well, today) because it is Brooklyn-Queens Day. So I haven't updated in the longest time, boo.
